Der Bund (CH):… Ancient music brought to life ...
Assisted by her excellent fellow musicians, most notably
by the wind player Tuomas Kaipainen, soprano Sabine Kaipainen
had an easy time of bringing the cantatas by Croft and
Händel to life — rich in melismas and dripping
with heartfelt sorrow — with her spontaneous vitality
and entertaining Baroque pathos. In the “Imitation
of Birds” by Williams, the flutes carried on sensual,
yet orderly dialogues which were on an equal level with
the expression and refinement of the vocal texts.
Turkulainen (SF):... The concert by the Duo Kaipainen
in Turku Castle was without a doubt one of the most fascinating
events presented by the Turku Festival this year.
Neue Zürcher Zeitung (CH):... Above all, it was music-making
of sublime festivity and sensuality, making us forget about
clichées and bloodless reconstructions... on the
very first evening upon hearing the sound of the chamber
ensemble of the Kaipainens (Musica Poetica)...
Concerto (DE)... (CD, Musica Poetica „Salve Regina“ A.C.Adlgasser)...
But suddenly the solo bassoon enters and almost steals
the limelight from the female voice...
Neue Zeitschrift für Musik (DE)... (LP, Duets for
Woodwinds (G.Ph.Telemann)... Each facet of these compositions
is illuminated clearly by the players’ outstanding
technical facility and by their attention to musical detail;
every single movement is filled with individual life through
well thought-out articulation. ... In this recording, the
sympathetic composer’s wish for the performers, as
well as for all his listeners, has been fulfilled: to have
fun with his music.
